Volare – Catalina Morgan 440

In Blog, Living Aboard by VolareLeave a Comment

Volare…. yes, just like the song, is a Catalina Morgan 440. We named her appropriately because Volare, means > to fly < …and when we met, we were both pilots. So, in the dual meaning of flying through the air… and flying through the water… Volare… Just fit.

Welcome aboard. She was made in 2007 and we’ve owned her since. We’ve made tons of upgrades and convenience modifications. We’ll use the blog to highlight some of them.. or all of them…

She’s our second boat. We used to have a cool Catalina 320 but when we decided that land living wasn’t for us we looked for a slightly larger boat to move up to.
We decided that the Catalina Morgan 440 had a lot of the qualities we wanted… especially in a blue water cruiser. Great tankage, sail plan, storage and we love the deck salon layout.
Believe it or not.. all these years later, we’re still finding new things we love about our boat. We just rediscovered some large storage areas on the boat.
And… yep… the boat is big enough that we lose track of our storage places.

We’ll show many of the improvements we’ve made to our sailboat that make our lives better and our sailing safer. Check out our boat projects tab, under archives, above.
