Mylar balloons adrift in the sea

Mylar balloons

In Blog, Living Aboard, Southern California by AdamLeave a Comment

Living and cruising on a sailboat definitely brings you closer to the environment. It truly makes you aware of how much energy you use and how much trash you produce. You have to consider all the needless packaging that surrounds the junk we buy and where it ends up.

We all loved balloons growing up. Children definitely still do… but trash like this out in the ocean doesn’t help you love balloons anymore. And while this is a sample of a bad offender… we see at least one Mylar balloon everyday while sailing. Pretty sad.

Enjoy Mylar balloons if you need to, but please

    DON’T RELEASE THEM.

Spread the word that the world isn’t that big… they all end up somewhere.
