La Paz and points beyond

In At Anchor, Living Aboard, Mexico by Adam6 Comments

Sorry for taking so long to get some posts up… we were on the hook for almost a month and here in the Sea of Cortez… internet is very limited. Cruising north from La Paz, Ensenada Grande and Isla Partida

We left Bahia de Los Suenos and rushed up to La Paz.  Our cruising buddies had an urgent need to get to La Paz quickly so we rushed up there and then spent 6 days in La Paz.

La Paz itself is a nice town… big by Mexico standards… meaning they have a Sams club and a Walmart.  We used this time to re-provision and regroup and then set sail again north.  One of the really cool things about La Paz… is that there are so many very cool anchorages near here.

Our first stop was on the Island of Espiritu Santo at an anchorage called de la Raza.  It had good protection from north winds.  We spent a few nights here.  Amazing sea life and a nearby reef where we snorkeled off our SUP boards.  Foxy wasn’t content with just sitting on the SUP board… she would occasionally just jump off and swim around.  She did this for a long time and really enjoys swimming just for fun.

Our shoreside excursions usually involved us and Foxy… off leash.  Near de la Raza we went by dingy to Bahia Gallo.  Very secluded but we got tore up by the no-see-ums.  We’ve concluded that if there are stinky things washed up on shore… you can expect no-see-ums!

Next we traveled north to Ensenada Grande on Isla Partida.  Water temp 82.2°.  Great place where we spent 3 nights.  One day, two men came by dinghy and asked if we liked tuna…. Ah… yes!  They caught too many tuna and gave us probably 2 pounds of fresh caught Yellowfin Tuna.  Instant sushi party on Volare!!

      Hi Elisha!

We’re going to spend at least another year in the Sea of Cortez. So many beautiful anchorages and places to see. We do want to visit the South Pacific and Oz someday though. We miss you guys!

  2. Great pics and great adventures! LOVE the instant sushi party! Also, how great are the paw prints on the SUP boards?! 😀 Can’t wait to come visit! <3

Those tower boards have really held up. I probably haven’t put air in them in 3-4 months and they’re still super stiff. Thumbs up to Tower SUP boards. They’re making a quality product.

  3. I’m so happy to read this and see pics. Sounds like it’s an amazing time! And everyone looks so happy…including Foxy. Love to you all!
