Summer Camping in the Pacific Northwest
Was the summer of ’19
We’d had enough of the heat near Puerto Vallarta at the end of the spring 2019 cruising season so we drove back to the States and went camping!
A disclaimer; when I use the words “camp” and “camping” in this article, I’m using them liberally. Our trailer is a large 5th wheel camper… that hardly qualifies as “roughing it” and compared to our boat… it seems huge!
Our ultimate goal was to find the 70° F line and camp near there so we could hike in the cool weather.
After de-winterizing our trailer, we set out from Southern Colorado.
Initially, we went East to camp near Denver and see Jess’s sister.
After a week there, we made our way to Twin Falls Idaho, via Wyoming and Utah.
Other places we stayed include Boise, Coeur d’Alene, Kaniksu National Forest, Spokane, Leavenworth, Everett, Anacortes, Seattle, Portland, Eugene, Mt. Shasta, Sacramento and Gunnison National Forest.
All in all, 22 different places. Some with full hookups, some parked next to streams all by ourselves.
A great summer… some portions of it may be repeated next summer.
We even stopped long enough in Everette Wa to have our friend Tyler come visit and go to a Pirate party with us! Was a blast!
Now back to the boat to un-summerize it and get it ready for the next cruising season. If you didn’t already know, you cruise from fall to the beginning of summer in Pacific Mexico.

So fun to live vicariously through you guys. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Beautiful photos of beautiful people and places and Foxy is the most photogenic dog ever. She sure landed with her bum in the butter with you guys. A dog’s dream life of adventure for sure.
Cheers
Paul
Foxy’s having a great time. She really is a great traveler as well. Just lays down and hardly makes a peep on long passages. Thanks for following…will post more soon.
Looks like a fab trip you guys had. Camping in comfort, that’s for sure! Foxy looks like she was perfectly in her element!
Thanks for following! It was a great summer camping. So similar to cruising…yet so very different. It’s nice not having to set an anchor alarm in the RV yet there’s no swimming off your “back porch” either.
We’re thinking about you Jules. Hoping you’re well.
